President Trump’s Unmasking of the Establishment

November 30, 2017 by Jeff Carlson, CFA

Since President Donald Trump took office, he has been consistently strategic in working to dismantle the radical, leftwing legacy of his predecessor. – Newt Gingrich

Change – even sudden change – can appear almost subtle when viewed on a day-to-day basis.

Think about these questions:

How do you see the Democratic Party?

How do you see the Republican Party?

What is your opinion of various GOP Congressional members?

How do you view Congressional Leadership?

How do you regard the major Federal Agencies and Departments?

How do you see the Mainstream Media?

How do you feel about Hollywood?

Now overlay your answers with this thought:

How did you feel about each of these questions two years ago? Even one year ago?

My guess is your feelings and opinions on these – and many other matters – have evolved significantly over the last year or two.

Many of us now possess a far greater sense of clarity than in years past.

One more question:

Why has GOP Majority Leadership proven such an utter failure – why didn’t Congressional GOP leaders have a plan in place to repeal Obamacare and cut taxes even before Trump won?

Conservative Treehouse provides this answer:

There is only one political party in Washington DC, with two internal caucuses – Republicans and Democrats.

I’m still not sure if that’s entirely accurate – but it sure feels directionally correct.

This is precisely why President Trump, despite accomplishing more than any other President in such a short period of time, is still criticized for failing to pass significant legislation.

I understand why some choose to judge a President on legislation he’s ushered through Congress. It’s an easy, verifiable way to view accomplishments.

But the President, while pushing for legislation, does not pass legislation. That’s the job of Congress.

Or it should be…

Which brings me back to a point I have stated repeatedly.

One of the truly great gifts of Trump’s Presidency has been the forceful removal of political masks. This includes those claiming status on either the Right or the Left. Of equal import has been the removal of masks from those claiming objective independence.

We now have a much clearer picture of where everyone stands.

Which is exactly what President Trump has been striving for. He has been systematically exposing people and institutions for exactly what they are. I touched on this in The Draining of the Swamp.

President Trump knew who wore which mask, but he needed to make sure others knew as well.

From Conservative Treehouse:

As both a candidate and a president Donald Trump has exposed a jaw-dropping number of political deceivers. He’s also single-handily exposed their hidden agenda(s), and proved beyond a shadow’s doubt that Republican’s were lying about policy and principle for years.

When President Trump speaks, he’s always highlighting these issues. He is also speaking on these issues, repeatedly, to draw out the hidden truth and create a larger awakening.

Lately, President Trump seems more confident that everyday Americans see things as they really are. The proper groundwork has been methodically – if unconventionally – laid out and is mostly behind us.

Consider some very recent tweets by the President.

On Republicans and passage of Tax Cuts:

Back in D.C., big week for Tax Cuts and many other things of great importance to our Country. Senate Republicans will hopefully come through for all of us. The Tax Cut Bill is getting better and better. The end result will be great for ALL!

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) November 27, 2017

On Democrats:

Meeting with “Chuck and Nancy” today about keeping government open and working. Problem is they want illegal immigrants flooding into our Country unchecked, are weak on Crime and want to substantially RAISE Taxes. I don’t see a deal!

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) November 28, 2017

Obama:

Funny to hear the Democrats talking about the National Debt when President Obama doubled it in only 8 years!

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) November 30, 2017

The Mainstream Media:

Wow, Matt Lauer was just fired from NBC for “inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace.” But when will the top executives at NBC & Comcast be fired for putting out so much Fake News. Check out Andy Lack’s past!

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) November 29, 2017

The MSM’s relationship with Democrats:

The Failing @nytimes, the pipe organ for the Democrat Party, has become a virtual lobbyist for them with regard to our massive Tax Cut Bill. They are wrong so often that now I know we have a winner!

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) November 30, 2017

North Korea:

Just spoke to President XI JINPING of China concerning the provocative actions of North Korea. Additional major sanctions will be imposed on North Korea today. This situation will be handled!

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) November 29, 2017

Radical Islamic Terrorism:

.@Theresa_May, don’t focus on me, focus on the destructive Radical Islamic Terrorism that is taking place within the United Kingdom. We are doing just fine!

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) November 30, 2017

The Economy:

Economy growing! Excluding hurricane effects, CEA estimates that real GDP growth would have been 3.9% in Q3.

Stock market at a new high, unemployment at a low. We are winning and TAX CUTS will shift our economy into high gear! pic.twitter.com/HrKIF72VqE

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) November 29, 2017

The Financial Markets:

Stock Market hits new Record High. Confidence and enthusiasm abound. More great numbers coming out!

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) November 30, 2017

Tax Cuts & the Middle Class:

This week, the Senate can join the House & take a strong stand for the Middle Class families who are the backbone of America. Together, we will give the American people a big, beautiful Christmas present-a massive tax cut that lets Americans keep more of their HARD-EARNED MONEY! pic.twitter.com/9jddEW2Oo5

Clinton/DNC Cover-up:

“Had the information (Crooked Hillary’s emails) been released there would have been harm to National Security….”
Charles McCullough

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) November 30, 2017

But it was these two bazooka blasts that fully caught my attention.

Deep State collusion:

Charles McCullough, the respected fmr Intel Comm Inspector General, said public was misled on Crooked Hillary Emails. “Emails endangered National Security.” Why aren’t our deep State authorities looking at this? Rigged & corrupt? @TuckerCarlson @seanhannity

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) November 29, 2017

Corruption within DOJ/FBI:

The House of Representatives seeks contempt citations(?) against the JusticeDepartment and the FBI for withholding key documents and an FBI witness which could shed light on surveillance of associates of Donald Trump. Big stuff. Deep State. Give this information NOW! @FoxNews

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) November 30, 2017

The gloves came off – and were thrown to the ground – with that last tweet.

President Trump promised the American people that he would take on the establishment and root out Washington corruption. My guess is that he understood the breadth of the problem and perhaps underestimated its depth.

No longer.

Senator Orrin Hatch had this to say:

I’ll say this for you. He’s been one of the best Presidents I’ve served under. And the reason is, he’s not afraid to make decisions. He’s not afraid to take on the big mouths around here.

Thank you @SenOrrinHatch. Let’s continue MAKING AMERICA GREAT AGAIN! https://t.co/PIv9OAVZcf pic.twitter.com/6egRvuwj1l

I have been waiting for this moment for nearly a year.

Masks are off. Positions chosen. Sides taken.

The big bare-knuckle showdown in Washington has finally begun.

The re-defining – the reformulation – of the Republican Party has now started.

Buckle up and pay close attention.

It’s gonna get real interesting.
