The Imran Awan Case – House Dems, A Secret Server & So Much More

It’s been a while since I wrote about the strange case of the Awan Brothers – the fugitive IT specialists for House Democrats – so I figured it might be time for an update. For those in need of some background, here is the earlier article.

Imran Awan was arrested July 24, 2017 at an airport as he was attempting to flee the country. He was flying to Pakistan by way of Qatar – following his wife who had fled the country in March with $12,000 in cash. He has been charged with four counts of bank fraud in connection with his wire transfer of nearly $300,000 to Pakistan. Imran and his brothers, Abid and Jamal, are under investigation by the FBI and U.S. Capitol Police for accessing congressional computers and stealing IT equipment.

The Awan brothers provided services to as many as 80 House Democrats over the years and had access to the electronic files and emails of  House Intelligence and Foreign Affairs Committee members. They provided their services on time-divided basis among the various Democratic Representatives.Continue Reading

Liberals, Conservatives and Fiscal Choices

Democrats and Republicans are diametrically opposed in so many ways but I think it comes down to a couple basic factors. As I noted in the The Left and the Right – Shoulds and Coulds, the Left tends to argue with emotion while the Right tends to argue with logic. I think most on the Left start with good intentions and end in poor implementation. I summed up the article thusly:

Liberal policies tend to tell you what to do. Conservative policies tend to motivate you to do something.

The Biggest Revelation From the Durham Report

Even as the dust is starting to settle over last week’s Durham Report revelations, it will take weeks, months, and perhaps even years to fully take in every aspect of the FBI’s scheme against President Donald Trump. However, there’s little doubt that the report’s most crucial finding concerns the tip that led the FBI to open its investigation into the Trump campaign.

Until last week, the official story was that a Trump campaign adviser, George Papadopoulos, got drunk in a London bar and told an Australian diplomat, Alexander Downer, about a secret plot between Russia and the Trump campaign to defeat Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential race by anonymously releasing her emails. According to the official narrative, Downer took Papadopoulos’s information to the U.S. embassy in London, which then informed the FBI.Continue Reading

Breaking History: Jared Kushner’s New Book Offers Fly-on-the-Wall View of Trump White House

The Russiagate saga went into overdrive in May 2017 when President Donald Trump fired FBI director James Comey, marking the start of a two-year investigation that seriously hobbled Trump’s presidency. If we were to believe the corporate media, it was the president’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, who came up with the idea of firing Comey.

Not so, says Kushner in his new memoir. The real story of Comey’s firing is that Trump noticed that something “was off” about Comey when he testified before Congress in the weeks ahead of his firing. Over dinner with Kushner and Melania and Ivanka Trump, President Trump told the others that Comey’s testimony was “erratic and inauthentic” and started drafting a letter firing Comey.

Trump’s intuition was remarkably accurate. As we recently found out from documents released as part of the Durham investigation, Comey lied to Congress during those crucial weeks, talking up the Russia investigation while concealing the fact that all investigative leads had collapsed.Continue Reading

Trump’s Strategic Syrian Strike

President Trump announced the firing of 59 Tomahawk missiles at Syrian airbase targets in the wake of Sarin gas attacks – reportedly by the Assad Syrian government on its own civilians. I wondered at the motivations behind Assad’s use of Sarin. It simply did not seem to make sense. If anything, Assad had found himself moving back from the precipice edge. On March 30, 2017, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson stated that Assad’s long-term status “will be decided by the Syrian people”. On the same day, Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley stated “our priority is no longer to sit there and focus on getting Assad out”. So why would Assad take such an obviously regime-suicidal action? Was it actually a false flag attack from the Syrian ISIS rebels or the Russians?

I don’t know the answer but it also doesn’t really matter. Let’s step back for a moment.

James Comey & Questions That Linger

“If I find out that people were leaking information about our investigation, whether to reporters or private parties, there will be severe consequences.” – James Comey – May 3 2017

James Comey released a surprisingly detailed Opening Statement the day before his infamous hearing. I discuss it here. It was so detailed that many predicted Comey’s actual testimony would prove to be a non-event. That view was not entirely accurate. Comey’s actual testimony proved to be a layered affair. There were the first impressions, then some deeper takeaways – and then further questions. I cover Comey’s testimony here. In it I discuss some serious timeline inconsistencies – and some inconsistencies in how he handled this affair versus the Clinton Criminal Investigation.

Civil Asset Forfeiture, Equitable Sharing & Adoption

Attorney General Jeff Sessions released policy directive 17-1 yesterday in which he announced a new Civil Asset Forfeiture program. What Sessions really did was reinstate the old Asset Forfeiture program that had been in place under AG Eric Holder. Allow me to explain.

Civil asset forfeiture – or civil seizure – occurs when law enforcement agencies seize property they suspect has been used in – or originates from – criminal activity. The item being seized is itself suspected of having been involved in a crime. It is literally a civil action against the property. Criminal charges against the owner of the property are not required – nor is an actual conviction.

In order to get the property back, the property owner must initiate a lawsuit, providing proof that the property was not used in – or acquired by – illegal means. Unlike a criminal trial, where “beyond a reasonable doubt” is the legal threshold – in a civil case, the “preponderance of evidence” standard applies. All the government need do is present enough evidence that makes the claim of illegality more likely than not.Continue Reading

ANALYSIS: Unlike Trump, Democrats Escaped Prosecution for Election Violations

As radio host Mark Levin recently noted, when it comes to Democrats and real campaign violations, “there is no justice.” In contrast to the weak charges leveled against former President Donald Trump, Levin provided a series of concrete examples of Democrat campaign violations, including the $719,000 in fines against participants in the 1996 Democratic Party fundraising scandals.

In that scandal, Democratic fundraisers set specific prices for foreign nationals, including those from China and Korea, to make illegal campaign contributions in return for meetings with then-President Bill Clinton and Vice President Al Gore. Foreign individuals and organizations are barred from contributing to federal elections. Those penalized included the Democratic National Committee (DNC), the Clinton–Gore campaign, and roughly two dozen people and corporations acting as conduits for the illegal contributions.Continue Reading
