On December 28, 2017, House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes sent a blistering letter to Deputy AG Rosenstein with a deadline response of January 3, 2018.
In the evening of January 3, 2018, Nunes received a reply.
Nunes wants answers to the origin of the FBI investigation that ultimately led to the National Security Division of the DOJ assembling a FISA request to engage in surveillance of the Trump Campaign.

Newly released emails by the Department of Justice (DOJ) reveal details about the internal response by the agency to allegations that then-Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein had wanted to wiretap President Donald Trump and invoke the 25th Amendment against him.
The allegations were first reported by The New York Times on September 2018. The article, headlined “Rod Rosenstein Suggested Secretly Recording Trump and Discussed 25th Amendment,” claimed that the “deputy attorney general, Rod J. Rosenstein, suggested last year that he secretly record President Trump in the White House to expose the chaos consuming the administration, and he discussed recruiting Cabinet members to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove Mr. Trump from office for being unfit.”

The United States utilizes a “Worldwide” tax code – and that’s a problem.
Most other nations use a “Territorial” tax system – companies are taxed by the country where the economic activity takes place. This territorial system is better suited to the multi-national landscape companies operate in today – which is why all other G-7 nations use the “territorial” approach. Under a territorial system, a multi-national company pays taxes to each of the nations it does business in according to the amount of economic activity done in each nation’s borders and according to the particular nation’s tax rate. This has the obvious advantage of placing all companies operating within a given nation on the same economic footing from a tax burden perspective. Under our current Worldwide system, U.S. corporations are taxed at the same 35% federal tax rate – less taxes paid to foreign governments and allowed deductibles – no matter where their profits are made.Continue Reading

Yesterday I wrote on Why I Support the Carrier Deal – an unusual response from a free markets proponent.
I liked the Carrier Deal because it highlighted the much larger story that lay hidden behind the headlines – as is often the case.
The Carrier deal unto itself was actually small news and would likely have gone unnoticed in differing times. The real story is why United Technologies CEO Greg Hayes came and listened. He came to hear President-Elect Trump’s broader blueprint for our future. He came to hear about plans to reduce taxes, to remove regulations – plans and policies to make the United States a place that attracts, rather than repels, business activity. Yesterday I stumbled across a quote from Senator Rand Paul that someone had posted in a Facebook Group. The quote comes from a Subcommittee Hearing on Healthcare on May 11, 2017. You can find a video of the hearing here. The quote made by Paul starts at 1:37:05. It reads as follows:
“With regard to the idea of whether you have a right to health care, you have realize what that implies. It’s not an abstraction. I’m a physician. That means you have a right to come to my house and conscript me. It means you believe in slavery. It means that you’re going to enslave not only me, but the janitor at my hospital, the person who cleans my office, the assistants who work in my office, the nurses.
Basically, once you imply a belief in a right to someone’s services — do you have a right to plumbing? Do you have a right to water? Do you have right to food? — you’re basically saying you believe in slavery…
