The United Nations (UN) was created in 1945 as a replacement for the ineffectual League of Nations. Membership was originally comprised of 51 nations – today there are 193 member nations. The UN has five primary organizational branches: the General Assembly, the Security Council, the Economic and Social Council, the Secretariat and the International Court of Justice (a sixth branch – the Trusteeship Council – has been inactive since 1994). These five branches comprise the “core” United Nations. The UN also has numerous agencies that are often autonomous or semi-autonomous. These agencies include the World Bank, the World Health Organization (WHO), the Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the World Food Program, the Education, Scientific and Cultural Foundation (UNESCO) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).Continue Reading

By Hans Mahncke (originally published on September 23, 2022)
The vice director of the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV), Yuan Zhiming, is a Chinese Communist Party (CCP) official who was formally in charge of international cooperation and biosafety at the facility, according to a newly discovered email from 2013.

I’m grateful for this country that helped make these things possible for so many people.

A Republic to be Thankful for
Sometimes we need to pause for a moment to remember – to allow ourselves to be reminded of all that is good in our lives.
There’s always much to be thankful for.
Like most, I’m grateful for my family and loved ones – my children, my parents, my partner and her family.
But it goes further – deeper.
I am grateful for the ability to wonder, to question, to grow and explore. I am grateful for the ability to speak my mind and engage in debate. I am grateful for the gift of critical thinking. And I am grateful for this country that helped make these things possible for so many people.
