The Inspector General’s Encompassing Investigation

March 27, 2018 by Jeff Carlson, CFA

Devin Nunes was on with Maria Bartiromo on March 25, 2018. Nunes is refreshingly candid which makes his interviews worthwhile.

While much was covered, there was one short comment by Nunes that specifically grabbed my attention:

Remember the IG report is only looking at how they handled the Clinton email investigation, so we really need that report.

“The IG report is only looking at how they [DOJ & FBI] handled the Clinton email investigation…”Continue Reading

The Moscow Project’s Lies & NBC/MSNBC Collusion

March 26, 2018 by Jeff Carlson, CFA

The Moscow Project recently made some headline grabbing claims about the House Intelligence Committee’s investigative work.

We found there were at least 70 known contacts between Trump’s team and Russia-linked operatives during the campaign and transition, including 22 meetings. In 81 percent of these cases, House Intel obtained either no or partial info from the relevant Trump representative.

Clapper Provided “Inconsistent Testimony” – House Intelligence Final Findings

March 22, 2018 by Jeff Carlson, CFA

The House Intelligence Committee just released its final Report on its Russia Investigation:

This report, based on 70-plus witness interviews and more than 300,000 documents collected, provides specific findings and recommendations to improve our election security before the mid-term elections. The report, which will include minority views if the minority submits them, presents the comprehensive results of what the Committee has learned during its fourteen-month-long investigation, and will be useful in thwarting any attempts by Russia or other foreign powers to further meddle in U.S. elections.”Continue Reading

The Real Facebook Controversy

March 21, 2018 by Jeff Carlson, CFA

Don’t make the mistake of thinking you’re Facebook’s customer, you’re not—you’re the product. Its customers are the advertisers. – Bruce Schneier

McCabe’s Firing, Comey’s Contradiction & Outside Prosecutors

March 17, 2018 by Jeff Carlson, CFA

Attorney General Jeff Sessions formally fired Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe on Friday, March 16, 2018.

From Sessions statement:

After an extensive and fair investigation and according to Department of Justice procedure, the Department’s Office of the Inspector General (OIG) provided its report on allegations of misconduct by Andrew McCabe to the FBI’s Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR).

The FBI’s OPR then reviewed the report and underlying documents and issued a disciplinary proposal recommending the dismissal of Mr. McCabe.  Both the OIG and FBI OPR reports concluded that Mr. McCabe had made an unauthorized disclosure to the news media and lacked candor − including under oath − on multiple occasions.Continue Reading

Hunter Biden’s China Connections

March 16, 2018 by Jeff Carlson, CFA

My frustration is not that the reporting on Trump has been too tough, but that the reporting on the Obama administration has been way too soft or in some cases nonexistent. – Peter Schweizer

In December of 2013, Vice President Biden and his son Hunter Biden flew to China on Air Force Two.

Ten days after the trip, a subsidiary of the Bank of China signed a deal with Hunter Biden’s investment firm, Rosemont Seneca Partners, to form a $1 billion joint-venture investment fund called Bohai Harvest RST.

The deal was later increased to $1.5 billion.Continue Reading

March 15, 2018 by Jeff Carlson, CFA

I’ve seen some folks noting that McCabe could be fired as soon as today. Whispers of charges being brought are out there as well.

In The Strange Timing of Andrew McCabe’s Potential (& Deserved) Firing, I ran through some background on McCabe and why he’s so deserving of an ignominious close to his career.Continue Reading
